Obtained through the steam distillation of twigs, needles and stems of the Cypress tree. Throughout history, cypress has been associated with death and found in and around cemeteries.

Benefits and Uses

Diuretic: Increases frequency of urination, which helps to flush toxins from the body and clean the kidneys.

Hemostatic: Promotes the clotting of blood, and has the ability to stop the flow of blood in an emergency.

Sedative: Cypress oil has a calming effect and can be used to relieve anxiety and stress, as well as promote a restful night’s sleep.

Anti-spasmodic: Effective in reducing or relieving muscle cramps and spasms. Can be used to effectively treat pulled muscles.

Caution

Cypress oil should not be used during pregnancy.
