Summary

Obtained through steam distillation of the wood from mature Sandalwood trees (40-80 years old). The older the tree, the better, as the older trees have a higher oil content and the aroma is stronger.

Benefits and Uses

Anti-inflammatory: Reduces inflammation in the body, which is the root cause of many autoimmune diseases such as Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Cicatrisant: Soothing to the skin, and very effective at helping cuts heal faster, while reducing the appearance of scars.

Disinfectant: Used extensively in incense, fumigants and evaporators to disinfect large areas.

Hypotensive: Can be taken with either milk or water to help lower blood pressure.

Caution

Mix with a carrier oil (such as coconut or olive) before rubbing on skin.
