Derived through steam distillation of the leaves of the Bay tree. Native to the Caribbean and spread throughout the world from there. An important part of the culture, religion and medicinal practices of both Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.
Anti-biotic: Inhibits bacterial growth which can result in infection.
Anti-septic: Inhibits the growth of microbes, bacteria and fungi in the body, and unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, is free from adverse side effects (except in very large doses).
Febrifuge: Helps to reduce fever.
Insecticide: Toxic to insects, and is therefore a very effective, all natural bug-repellant when used in sprays, fumigators and vaporizers.
Should not be used during pregnancy. May irritate skin or mucous membranes.
