Aventurine is an opaque, waxy-lustrous quartz with “scales” of mica trapped within the matrix. It is most commonly a dark green, though it can present itself as blue, orange, or yellow as well. It has a relatively large distribution, with main mines in India, Tanzania, Russia, and Brazil. As with all other quartz, the body of the gem is comprised of silicon dioxide.
